The idea

Here, at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, we would like to foster new dialogs by introducing eco tourism along the Kilimanjaro Friendship Trail. The trail revitalises a pilgrims path developed by the first missionaries to this region. By doing this we create encounters between different cultures. Besides that the Kilimanjaro Friendship Trail draws a focus on generating income for locals living far from the touristy places in the rural parts of the Kilimanjaro Region.

While hiking or making a pilgrimage through Mount Kilimanjaro's garden belt we can observe nature in our own time as well as meet locals like the Chagga. This is a great opportunity to change our point of views, clear our prejudices and approach new ideas of looking at the world by looking closely, asking questions, listening and being open minded. Experiencing Mount Kilimanjaro encourages us to treat our own environment more carefully.
